Account ID mismatch: How to fix it

If your Account ID doesn't match between Settings and the theme extension, notifications won't work. Copy the Account ID from Settings and paste it exactly (character-by-character) into the theme extension settings.


Copy Account ID from Settings page. Go to theme editor → Social Proof Live extension → Paste Account ID exactly. Even one character difference will prevent notifications from working.



Why Account ID Must Match


  • Account ID links your app to theme extension
  • Mismatch = extension can't communicate with app
  • Result: No notifications show
  • Must match exactly (case-sensitive)


How to Get Your Account ID


  1. Open Social Proof Live app
  2. Go to "Settings" page
  3. Find "Account ID" field
  4. Copy the entire Account ID string
  5. It's a long alphanumeric string


How to Update in Theme Extension


  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes
  2. Click "Customize" on active theme
  3. Find "Social Proof Live" extension
  4. Click on extension (opens settings)
  5. Find "Account ID" field
  6. Paste your Account ID from Settings
  7. Verify it matches exactly
  8. Save theme


Verification


  • Compare Account ID in Settings vs extension
  • Check character-by-character
  • Ensure no extra spaces
  • Ensure no missing characters
  • Case-sensitive (uppercase/lowercase matters)


Common Mistakes:
  • Copying partial Account ID
  • Adding extra spaces
  • Missing characters
  • Wrong case (uppercase/lowercase)
  • Using old Account ID after account change


If Account ID Changed


  • Sometimes Account ID can change
  • If notifications stop working: Check if Account ID changed
  • Update extension with new Account ID
  • Wait 5-10 minutes after update


Still Not Working?
  • Double-check both Account IDs match exactly
  • Try copying/pasting again
  • Clear browser cache
  • Wait longer (up to 30 minutes)
  • Contact support if persistent
