Maximum notifications per visitor: What to expect
The maximum number of notifications per visitor is set in Global Settings. The actual count depends on available data, campaign settings, and visitor behavior. Low-traffic stores may see fewer notifications until data builds up.
Maximum Notifications
- Set in: Settings (top right) → Global Settings
- Default: Varies (check your settings)
- Meaning: Maximum notifications one visitor can see
- Purpose: Prevent notification overload
What Affects Notification Count
1. Available Data:
Notification Type | Data Availability | Notification Count |
|---|---|---|
Recent Orders | Many (historical + new orders) | High |
Top Selling | Many (uses sales data) | High |
Product Views | Depends on traffic | Varies |
Add to Cart | Depends on traffic + GA4 | Varies |
Static | Unlimited (you create messages) | High |
2. Campaign Settings:
- Repeat Messages: If disabled, each message shows once
- Data Threshold: Minimum data required (for aggregate types)
- Page Targeting: Only shows on selected pages
- Device Targeting: Only shows on selected devices
3. Visitor Behavior:
- How long they stay on site
- Which pages they visit
- If they match targeting rules
Low Traffic Stores
Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
Fewer notifications until data builds up | Use Static notifications for guaranteed messages |
Not enough data for other types | Use Recent Orders (uses historical data) |
High Traffic Stores
- More notifications available
- May hit maximum limit
- Rotate through available data
- Set reasonable maximum (10-20 notifications)
- Don't overwhelm visitors
- Quality over quantity
- Test what works for your audience
Next Steps:
- Check maximum in Settings (top right) → Global Settings
- Adjust if needed (don't set too high)
- See "How do I change global settings?" for details
