Notifications not showing: Complete troubleshooting guide

Most Common Causes (In Order)


1. Theme Extension Not Activated (90% of issues)

  • Check: Go to theme editor → Look for "Social Proof Live" extension
  • Fix: Toggle extension ON → Enter Account ID → Save theme
  • Verify: Extension shows as active/enabled


2. Account ID Mismatch

  • Check: Compare Account ID in Settings vs theme extension
  • Fix: Copy Account ID from Settings → Paste in extension exactly
  • Verify: Both match character-for-character


3. Testing in Admin

  • Check: Are you testing in Shopify admin?
  • Fix: Open storefront in new tab (yourstore.com)
  • Verify: Test on actual storefront, not admin


4. Campaign Not Live

  • Check: Campaign list shows status
  • Fix: Edit campaign → Change status to "Live"
  • Verify: Status shows "Live" in campaign list


5. Not Waiting Long Enough

  • Check: How long since activation?
  • Fix: Wait 5-10 minutes after any changes
  • Verify: Check again after waiting


6. Wrong Page/Device Targeting

  • Check: Edit campaign → Rule Options tab
  • Fix: Adjust "Show on Pages" and "Device Type"
  • Verify: Targeting matches where you're testing


7. No Data Available

  • Check: What notification type are you using?
  • Fix: Use Recent Orders or Static (work with less data)
  • Verify: See notification type requirements

  1. Create Static notification campaign
  2. Set to Live
  3. Test on storefront
  4. If Static works: Other types need data/time
  5. If Static doesn't work: Check theme extension/Account ID


Still Not Working?
  • Double-check theme extension activation
  • Verify Account ID character-by-character
  • Test with Static notification type
  • Wait 30 minutes and try again
  • Check browser console for JavaScript errors
