Recent Orders not showing: Initial sync explained
Recent Orders notifications require an initial data sync that can take 30 minutes to a few hours. This sync processes historical order data from your store. After sync completes, notifications work with both old and new orders.
- Wait 30 minutes to a few hours for initial sync
- Check if theme extension is activated
- Verify Account ID matches
- Check campaign is set to Live status
- Test on storefront, not admin

Initial Sync Process
When you first install the app, Recent Orders needs to sync historical order data:
- Sync starts automatically when app is installed
- Processes historical orders (30 min - few hours)
- Sync completes → Notifications can use old + new orders
- Going forward: New orders appear in notifications quickly
Timeline
Timeframe | What's Happening |
|---|---|
0-30 minutes | Initial sync in progress (be patient) |
30 min - 2 hours | Sync completing (check back soon) |
After sync | Notifications work with both old and new orders |
Ongoing | New orders appear in notifications within seconds |
- Theme extension not activated: Go to theme editor and activate
- Account ID mismatch: Verify Account ID in extension matches Settings
- Campaign not Live: Check campaign status is "Live" not "Draft"
- Testing in admin: Notifications only show on storefront
- Script not loaded: Wait 5-10 minutes after activation
After Initial Sync
- Notifications appear faster (within seconds of new orders)
- Both historical and new orders are used
- No more waiting periods
Next Steps:
- Be patient during initial sync (check back in 1-2 hours)
- Use Static notifications if you need immediate results
- See "Why aren't notifications showing?" for more troubleshooting
